Kate's L.A. Story

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Whilst we’re in preparation for our 3rd and last Quarterfinal, we thought we’d remind the 12 talented lot what they could be winning at the end of this month. And who better to demonstrate this then our lovely Quarterfinal 2 winner Katem3.

Kate travelled to the “home of celebrity,” Los Angeles, last month where she worked alongside producers and songwriters Mark Maxwell, Asia ‘Persuasia‘ Whiteacre and Ted Bruner, who has worked with the likes of Katy Perry, Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus!

We caught up with Kate the other day and she said: “It was fantastic. Really loved every minute of it. It’s so much bigger and more colourful there. I got back into Paddington and saw all the grey buildings, train tracks, clouds and angry people and was like…whoa, cheer up England! It was amazing working with those guys and pulling out songs everyday.” We’re definitely looking forward to hearing Kate’s brand new tracks. We can’t wait!

You can catch up with all the latest info on her time in LA by following Kate’s Twitter feed or you could just watch her brilliant video diary she made while she was out there.

(Oh yeh, just one more thing, HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE!)

The winner takes it all

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Whilst Simon Cowell’s false promises of Christmas number one have been disillusioning X-Factor contestants since 2004, here at 1Click2Fame we do stick to our promises, as 1Click competitor, Tom Andrews, found out when he bagged himself a music video shoot with London’s award-winning production company, Flynn.  Tom met with top producers to discuss the setting, theme and even casting for the video.  They then set about the shoot at an Islington warehouse and finished with a pretty smart looking video to accompany his song ‘Carry me on.’  Not bad for an afternoon’s upload and a couple of friends clicking on a thumbs-up!

Now, we know what you’re thinking, “I want to have my own music video. I want to sing in an Islington warehouse whilst playing my guitar!”* Worry not loyal 1Clickers. You too can have this great opportunity but there’s not much time! The February Finals are fast approaching and this will be your last chance to win this amazing prize, not to mention securing a place in our Quarterfinal, before we head into our Annual Grand Final.

So what are you waiting for? Upload your performance, get those all-important votes in and maybe, just maybe, you can give Beyonce a run for her money and have one of the best videos of all time (of ALL time).

In the mean time, you can check out Tom Andrew’s official music video for “Carry Me On” here.

* We read minds. It’s kind of our thing, it’s what we do.

Quick Catch-up with Kate

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Since winning our 2nd Quarterfinal and walking away with the £25,000 sponsorship, Kate McGill, otherwise known as Katem3, has been incredibly busy working towards the limelight. Kate has started 2010 off with a bang and has already got a heavy schedule for the rest of the year. With such an already-large following on the world wide interweb, she will surely not disappoint.

P1000493

Kate, from Plymouth, travelled to London last week where she was given the same treatment as Kylie, Robbie Williams and Stevie Wonder at Wendy House Productions where she spent three days writing songs and recording brand new tracks. As if that wasn’t enough, Kate also had an interview and photoshoot with Company Magazine on Friday. We caught up with Kate last week to ask her how she’s feeling about it all and here’s what she had to say,

“We’ve written 2 songs so far and I’m really excited. I’m enjoying it so much but I’m more scared than anything else. I can’t look forward to anything because I’m so scared!”

To top it all off, Kate will be jetting off to LA and Sweden in the next two months to write and produce even more songs. We don’t know about you but we’re quite excited to hear what she’ll be coming up with. So stick with us, we’ll be giving you constant updates throughout Kate’s journey. You can also see exclusive updates here, on our special playlist dedicated to all things Kate.

We’ll leave you with a little reminder as to why Kate is just so great!

New Year, New Talent

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

“An optimist stays up until midnight to see the New Year. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.”

Here, at 1Click2Fame towers we are forever the optimist. After an action-packed 2009, we are more than ready to make 2010 just as fun and entertaining for you, our lovely community. We were even more excited to see some brand-spanking new performances over the festive period and with only six places left for our 3rd Quarterfinal, we could potentially see some serious competition hotting up in the next couple of months.

We spotted some fantastic performances upon browsing through all the auditions and there were a few which caught our eyes (and ears) immediately. We’re all Michael Jackson fans here at 1Click so when 21-year-old Jack Martello uploaded his rendition of the classic “Billie Jean” we sat up and took notice straight away. We did for a second think that we were listening to the voice of an angel when we heard 12-year-old (yes, I said 12 years old) Poppy Mills, otherwise known as “The Angel of Music”. She is currently ploughing through the January charts, so expect to see more from her soon. Lauren Music93 says “Music is my life, performing is my world and the stage is my home.” With a voice like hers, we are certainly not going to argue. Her cover version of Leona Lewis’ “Run” is a reminder why this song gives us goosebumps and she definitely does it justice. Another competitor who caught our attention is Ryan Spendlove. His powerful voice blew us away and we’ve been playing his performance back constantly. We liked it so much that we even tweeted it! We were also pretty impressed with 3-piece band Cedarway. Their song “Sarah” gave us some good vibes in the office and made us all happy inside with a fun video to go with it.

See, we definitely weren’t lying when we said there was some tough competition ahead and we cannot wait to see it. January’s competition is now live! So, if you want to see any of these guys in the running for the grand prize of a professional video shoot and the Quarterfinal, then you need to get voting now. Or if you think you can do better, then why not upload a video and get a campaign going! You can see the current Auditions chart here.

Them and you

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

It’s not often you get to meet a celebrity, and it’s even rarer that you get to meet two.

But here at 1Click2Fame we’re feeling pretty generous this festive season, and we’re offering two internet stars for the price of one.

10 weird and wonderful duets

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

The evenings are drawing in and it’s time to start thinking about curling up on the sofa with someone special.

But if watching endless Friends repeats isn’t your thing why not get out from under the duvet and sing sing sing? With the spirit of cooperation and brotherly (or sisterly) love in mind, we bring you our top ten duets you can watch online:

10 Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney

Worth watching for the video alone. I hope that’s not Jesus Juice MJ’s drinking…

9 Etta James and Dr John

We would rather go blind than never hear voices this incredible again.

8 Elton John and Miss Piggy

Not sure who looks more of a muppet here.

7 Gonzales and Feist

Utterly brilliant live performance, worth watching to the end to find out what an 8-Bit Michael Jackson computer game should sound like.

6 Tammy Wynette and the KLF

Probably technically not a duet, but too bizarre and awesome to overlook.

5 Dizzee Rascal and David Byrne

The bonkers rascal makes a surprisingly good combo with the Talking Heads frontman (and a little help from Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim).

4 Iggy Pop and Peaches

A match made in hell.

3 David Bowie and Brian Molko

The introduction from Johnny Vaughan says it all really.

2 Sarah Silverman and Matt Damon

Hilarious for absolutely everyone except Jimmy Kimmel.

1 Rufus and Martha Wainwright

Two great singers from one talented family and a great song too. Lovely stuff.

So snuggle up by the fire, open a bottle of Ovaltine and enjoy. See you next week folks!
