It’s that time again, ladies and gentlemen, when the music industry honours the cream of British musical talent – yes, it is the 30th annual BRIT Awards and we’re already excited! The ceremony has brought us as many fantastic performances as it has headline-stealing scandals – Jarvis Cocker storming Michael Jackson’s performance of Earth Song in 1996, controversial presenting from Russell ‘Scandalous’ Brand and Sharon Osbourne, and Liam Gallagher challenging pretty much everyone to a fight.

Five lucky artists have scooped a trio of nominations this year – it seems us Brits Have Got the Love for Florence and the Machine, we’re gaga for GaGa and Everybody’s In Love with JLS, Lily Allen and Pixie Lott (sorry, couldn’t resist with song names like those!)
Our money’s on the crazy, kooky brilliance of Lady GaGa, who sold more singles than any other artist in the UK last year, and in fact the girls in general – Florence, Pixie, Cheryl, Lily, Leona, Alesha, Alexandra and newcomer Ellie Goulding (a particular favourite of our own Katem3) – are dominating the nominations.
Representing the boys is Robbie Williams, who is being honoured with the Outstanding Contribution award, as well as being in the running for Best British Male. He’s won it four times before (maybe it’s time to give someone else a chance?!), and in total he has accepted an amazing 11 BRITS, with Annie Lennox and Paul McCartney trailing in second place (with a mere 8 each).
Place your bets on the most likely occurence at this year’s event: Take That reform for a surprise performance; a celebrity gets a bit too drunk and storms the stage/slurs his or her speech; Gaga wears a modest, loose-fitting, ankle-length dress; or MJ beams in from outer space to perform ‘Heaven Can Wait’…
